once upon a time

Once upon a time I was lost and hidden from reality, a series of private entrances and quick exits; once upon a time I lost my soul somewhere in the clouds for I listened to the vows of others; once upon a time I took the road less travelled and came upon a place called the Kingdom of Lost Joy where I found you residing courtside cupping happiness in the palms of your hands, you invited me in and we danced and sang and shared a few jokes and talked of love and hope but still you waited on the joy of one who would never come for no one could ever love you more than you love yourself and when at last you took the stage and came face to face you left it all behind to build another kingdom you had yet to find; once upon a time I struggled on soulless feeling powerless until I found joy in your kingdom, gained strength in your wisdom, went to the front lines in the freezing cold then won back the one thing that always belonged. . . to me… a soulful integrity; once upon a time love came my way and once upon a time a love once came to stay…
